BLUE SKY RESEARCH INTRODUCES Chromalase™II DIODE LASER MODULE FAMILY
Chromalase™II is a compact, high performance free-space, semiconductor
laser module family.
MILPITAS, Calif. – November 27th, 2007 – Blue Sky Research, a volume
manufacturer of semiconductor lasers, laser systems and OEM components, today
announced the company is accepting orders for its new Chromalase™II diode
laser module family. The Chromalase™II is Blue Sky’s second
generation of compact, high performance, free-space laser modules. A wide variety
of wavelength and power options are available including the very popular 405nm
and 635nm products. The new design draws on the experience of manufacturing
our successful Chromalase™ product family over the last 2years and incorporates
a number of desirable upgrades.
Each Laser incorporates a semiconductor laser diode that has been micro-integrated
with a Blue Sky µLens. The µLens shapes and corrects the
natural defects in the light from a normal semiconductor laser. The beam correction
results in near perfect Gaussian and circular beam shape and also helps correct
the wavefront distortions inherent in laser diodes. This makes the CHROMALASE™
II Series of laser modules the ideal choice for high performance
applications.
To complete our product series we also offer laser modules incorporating standard
laser diodes without the micro-optic beam correction. These economical units
retain all the advantages of our small, highly integrated packaging. The output
beam will have a standard elliptical shape with the typical 3:1 aspect ratio.
The CHROMALASE™ II Laser Modules are complete stand alone lasers. Everything
you need to operate this laser from a simple 12volt DC supply is integrated
in the laser module. The laser is temperature stabilized with a thermoelectric
cooler (TEC) and the integrated controller includes laser driver, output power
stabilization, power level control, reverse and over voltage protection, fast
transient and ESD suppression.
“We have been very happy with the acceptance of our original CHROMALASE™
laser module family by our customers. However we have been planning a number
of performance and usability upgrades and we decided to incorporate them all
into this new product family, the CHROMALASE™ II.” said Chris Gladding,
President and CEO of Blue Sky Research. “Changes include simple mechanical
mounting, upgraded optical power stabilization and beam pointing stability
as well as improved electronic circuitry with a higher level of protection
for the laser devices.”
